Mom's the word...

...so says our reader Ramapriya, who has penned these lines as a tribute to his mother Ranganayaki. Read on and do send us memoirs and writings about your beloved ones.

A BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE

She was the eighth child out of the ten born to the high-profile session judge couple;

She spent her child hood amidst her siblings in a traditional orthodox environment with an aristocrat touch in her lifestyle.

She got married to a dark handsome guy at a tender age of thirteen while still studying/playing in school;

She had given birth to three children carrying them in her womb for cumulative months of twenty-seven before attaining the age of twenty-seven.

Ramapriya and his mother

When she was twenty-seven I played and breathed in her womb, which was akin to heaven, for a total of days - two hundred seventy-seven.

She labored unbearable pain before delivering me into this world of umpteen wonder with my future life secured safe in her domain;

Day and night she fed me giving full attention to my needs and wants with unparalleled dedication.

She sacrificed her sleep, her appetite, her health for me to grow and walk on my own, which I am doing for the past fifty-nine years;

She taught me the ABC of life and has shown me the path to face challenges, which is why I am still here hale and healthy even at the age of sixty.

She conceived a total of seven children, of which one never saw the light of the day;

She lost her eyesight in her prime but was never short of foresight;

She fell short of hearing but made sure it did not have any bearing.

She lost her husband early but soon donned his role with full command;

She has the power of such a memory that she can make wizards blink.

Over the last sixty years, apart from being her son, I have also donned the role of a husband, father and grandfather, all because of her selfless sacrifices and heartfelt blessings;

In her life of ups and downs she has taken care of all her six offsprings and today we are all enjoying the fruit of her selfless sacrifices especially after the demise of her loving husband and our dear father.

Oh my mother, as you approach the age of eighty-seven, I am so happy to wish you a very Happy Birthday and pray the lord to give his personal attention to keep you hale and healthy for years to come.

Wish you score a chance less century which should make Sachin's century of centuries look pale.

Oh mother, I am indebted to you for shedding your sweat and blood to give me such a wonderful life. I have no qualms to declare that I have discovered God in you and it does not matter to me if I don't visit Him in temples as long as you are in my heart.
